Although aircraft noise has the potential for generating the greatest annoyance for transportation noise, road traffic noise affects a far greater proportion of the population.
Noise mapping can be used to assess the consequences of new road development or new traffic routings on existing residential accommodation. The majority of assessments on road traffic noise are undertaken following guidance within the Calculation of Road Traffic Noise (CRTN) guidance document. As the owners of one of the largest fleets of noise measurement equipment in the UK, we have a wide capability for large-scale monitoring over extended periods, such as that undertaken for the M6 Toll Road.
