Although aircraft noise is not regulated by local councils in the same way as industrial and commercial noise, there is nonetheless a desire by airport and airline operators to reduce noise, which needs to be consistent with commercial considerations. Noise from aircraft on the ground and from ancillary items of plant and equipment is, however, under the control of local councils and regulated accordingly.
We have been involved with a number of aviation noise projects including ground noise assessments for runway and stand re-development at London Heathrow, Gatwick & Stansted airports; preparation of noise contours for Heathrow, Gatwick and Southampton airports; and analysis of data for arrivals and departures noise studies at Heathrow and Southampton airports. You can read all about our ground noise assessments for the new runway at Gatwick here.
