Acoustics affects our daily lives – our brains are always busy analysing, responding to and filtering the sounds of our environment. Our work requires assessment of the impact of sounds from many sources and requires a rigorous yet flexible approach, un-compromising in integrity. At Hayes McKenzie you get experienced experts with a thorough understanding of the technical and legal side of acoustics, noise and vibration assessment. You get a team of consultants with a broad base of skills, prepared to challenge convention to provide the ultimate response to your requirements. What is Acoustic Consultancy?
Our work together has taken us from Cornwall to Caithness and Cumbria to Yorkshire and one of the best results of this particular foursome [Andy McKenzie working with the author (a planning consultant), an L&V consultant and a lawyer] has been working to deliver our different elements on time to avoid putting pressure on the other members of the team.
Working with our Consultant [Hayes McKenzie] was a genuinely good experience and has given the team a lot more confidence in the procedures for installing the products, as a company we do like a challenge and this project was a real challenge so we are delighted with the end result, it’s the first basement-to-separate-dwelling we’ve done and we’ve definitely set the bar high for any in the future!
I have worked with Hayes McKenzie across a portfolio of complex wind projects for the last seven years. Andy and his team have been able to ‘demystify’ a technical discipline and translate it into a more meaningful language for the benefit of both myself as a client and for concerned members of the public. The team are professional, dedicated and produce detailed advice and technical reports within often very short deadlines. I have great respect for the Hayes McKenzie team and have no hesitation in recommending their work.
From our inception over 20 years ago, Hayes McKenzie has been one of our go to acoustic advisors for wind energy projects across the UK. During this time they have contributed to our own success in designing, assessing and consenting over 1GW of onshore wind generation in the UK, as well as providing robust, bankable acoustic input to a wide range of projects going through financial close and due diligence assessments. The team at Hayes McKenzie combines an in depth technical knowledge and ability in the field with a “can do” and innovative approach to addressing our clients’ complex and evolving requirements.
I have to say, I honestly didn’t think the products would work as well as they did, I collected them from the depot in Warrington near my Workshop and brought them to site, we started the job by hitting the steels with a hammer to hear the ringing and then applied all the products before ‘testing’ them with the hammer again, I was stunned at the result! The Consultant [Seth Roberts] clearly knows his stuff.
We have worked with the Hayes McKenzie team since 1998 on a range of projects across the UK. Whatever the noise issue encountered - be it compliance with guidance, planning inquiry or operational issues, the team has always been pragmatic and supportive in their advice whilst realistic and open. Where Hayes McKenzie believe affects can be accommodated they will support the project to the end being clear with their advice - their performance at public inquiry is exemplary and respected by many barristers. Hayes McKenzie’s reporting style is clear, open and concise with timely and reliable delivery. Working with them has always been a pleasure and we look forward to continuing our ongoing relationship long into the future.
Thanks again for all your magnificent work in making this project come about. It is no exaggeration to say that Rob Shepherd’s calm, confident and uncompromising performance on the stand, during the Public inquiry, was a critical success factor for which I am personally very grateful. Barrister couldn’t get past you! A job really well done by Hayes McKenzie! Thanks guys!
